Ime off to a great start for 2015,i did 22 new pubs yesterday,i started out in Batley,then walked to Heckmondwike, a local landlord advised me to leave Heckmondwike as most of the pubs there have closed done,he said take the bus to Cleckheaton i did a quick dash round there before doing a couple in Staincliffe and one on Dewsbury Moor,i ended up in a posey bar in the middle of Leeds.

Ive got another crawl planned going up to Leeds again in three weeks time,then down London mid February.

Earlier start than last year but I remain stymied for choice at weekends due to major engineering in the Wimbledon area for several successive weekends. This has also prevented me from attending two so far excellent away football fixtures. Grrrrr.

I'm glad you didn't make it to the Cap in Hand, my favourite SW Londion Spoons. It's had the curse of the GBG in that my last two visits have been very disappointing with beer quality. It's in the Last Chance Saloon now as if my next visit doesn't impress it will receive the Curse of Aqualung.

Finally got to my first new pub of the year yesterday and added another 7 afterwards as part of a crawl around Rotherham/Sheffield, so 8 so far.

Off to Birmingham next week for the cup tie against Villa - hope to revisit a few old favourites and bag one or two new ones. After that, I've got trips to Wigan and Nottingham to look forward to, plus the PuG get-together in York, which I'm combining with a visit to Harrogate/Knaresborough, so lots of potential for some great new pubs. 2015 is looking good already!

5 visited today bringing me to 20 and just on target although pubs will have to take a back seat for the next 2 weeks as i will be in the Caribbean but after my return i will continue with the West Midlands plus a few visits to London as i have now found from Halifax that if you book in advance and use a Senior railcard a return costs £17.40p

That I'm not sure about, as listed under Berkshire are a number of pubs actually in Hants and Bucks! http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/counties/berkshire/ eg Stoke Poges in Slough area.

I'm doing Berkshire by county boundary, I assume the PUG list is postal district...I'm not sure Desmond would be happy helping my quest if I bunged in an extra 20 pubs!

He will I've done nothing but expand the "Quest Area" since I set boundaries. I regularly chuck in 30 to 40 new ones at a time every few months. He has a hissy fit but soon forgets and away we go...

Bradford On Avon was never on the original list, second incarnation, and now on revision 440 it is but we've been there the last two trips out with no tears. Today he was quite impressed with the quality of the barmaids arse in one pub. That's good enough for me.

It's all about pictures not reviews, it wouldn't be if I could match Blackthorn in the descriptive review stakes... 155 at present. Hopefully looking at finishing Glastonbury and Street over BH weekend, just need to find somewhere cheap to stay. So that'll be another 20 ish or so on top if all goes to plan.

If reviews become a fight to the death I could complete the remainder of Bristol bearing in mind I've been in them all and have a memory of them all...

I did a good crawl round Woolwich visiting all but one pub on the list and did all pubs on the Plumstead Commom list,this bagged me another 21 new pubs i also went in a pub close to Victoria train station station for a quick drink before getting the bus home and now found out that i have not been in it before,so 1 more new pub in central London.

This brings my new pubs done for the year up to 180.

I don't get to many new pubs now that Ray is less mobile, but do try to get the reviews on within a few days of visiting the pubs. My memory would not cope with 100 pubs, even with notes, and to me it would likely become a chore rather than fun. Visiting pubs and enjoying the beer should never be that!!

If more than a month or so I just back-port the date via subbing the review through the mass migration tool. I have notes taken at the the time so the detail is there, I'm not freestyling the review off the top of me hat.

I have to travel quite a bit to get to new pubs,but i am lucky in living in the middle of England so i can travel in any direction,i am concentrating on West Yorkshire at the moment it is only £10 return from Nottingham to Leeds plus a booking fee,off up there again this Saturday,i hope to get over 1000 reviews for the county within the next
3 years,Birmingham is another city fairly close that i have not done many pubs in,but i really dont like the city so tend to keep away from it.

Reached 171 with a 15 pub crawl yesterday. In York, I started with the new Leeds Brewery pub, the Eagle & Child (http://www.eagleandchildyork.co.uk/), a couple of doors along from the Three-legged Mare. Yes, there are five hand pumps, but only Black Sheep Bitter and John Smiths Cask at the time of my visit. The Sheep was in good nick, but no sign of the promised three guests. Next was meant to be The Half Moon (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/5447/), but due to incomplete research I hadn't realised that Wednesday is their late opening day. I called in at The Quays (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/5468/) instead, and then the Sam Smiths pub, The Glittering Star (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/5440/). Then back to the station for my next train, to Thornaby for Stockton on Tees.

At this point the rest of the day was thrown into jeopardy: a freight train broke down on some points outside Darlo station, effectively blocking all lines through the town. There was no information about how long it would take to clear, so after half an hour I got a refund on my pre-bought ticket and settled for doing the rest of the crawl in town - at least the Half Moon would be open soon. Just as I came out of the ticket office, however, there was an announcement: my train had made it through and was waiting at platform 3. I hastily bought another ticket and caught the train, arriving in Thornaby not too far behind schedule.

First stop was going to be The North Eastern (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/4318/), which advertises real ales, although What?ub says there are none. On passing the main window, it was clear that although there are four hand pumps, there are no beers on. I contemplated going in anyway, because it's a nice-looking pub, but I couldn't stomach the idea of drinking John Smiths Smooth Crap, so I gave it a miss. I also went in The Royal Oak (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/61159/) and The Green Dragon (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/4295/), a very nice Sam's pub that appears to have been put together from several random rooms. Although there was a pub of the same name here many years ago (it's situated in Green Dragon Yard), it's not clear that the right derelict building was revived when the modern pub was created. This information came from the owner of Golden Smog (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/82708/), a micro-pub in an obscure yard off the High Street. Final stop in Stockton was Dr M'Gonigles Emporium (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/83351/), with a surprising five hand pumps.

On the way back through Darlington I just had time between trains to pop into The Old Vic (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/78719/). Fifteen pubs, 15 different beers, ranging in price from 90p for a half of Sam Smiths OBB in the Glittering Star to £1.85 for a half of Bootleg Urban Fox in the Three Tuns. Total for all beers was £22.00, and for trains £20.60. About the same as I would have paid to go to a football match (http://www.lutontoday.co.uk/sport/luton-town/luton-town-news/woeful-hatters-throw-two-goal-lead-away-as-cumbrians-triumph-1-7083153), and much more enjoyable.

Reached 171 with a 15 pub crawl yesterday. In York, I started with the new Leeds Brewery pub, the Eagle & Child (http://www.eagleandchildyork.co.uk/), a couple of doors along from the Three-legged Mare. Next was the longer established Leeds Brewery pub, The Duke of York (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/80974/). Number three was just around the corner, Pivni (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/62626/). I also did Ye Old Shambles Tavern (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/81223/), though no one offered me a cheese sandwich. Next was the recently opened Pavement Vaults (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/75987/) and finally in York The Three Tuns (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/56446/). Then it was back to the station for my train to Darlington.

438 now after a quick trip to Chippenham after work today. Should be at 445 by Saturday after finishing a few around Westbury and starting some the other side of Swindon Jcn 15.

Being away in December for 10 days in Spain and France will lose days for UK pubs but should still make 450 by end of the year, doubt I'll push it to 475 unless I can get a couple of days in Bath City Centre in and nail another 20 or so.

Edged up to 322 this week with Bampton in Oxfordshire (and some of its surrounds) as well as a 15-pubber in the Clerkenwell environs, which was punctuated by some seriously bad pub muzak.

Another trip to London tomorrow should add another 10 or so to the list, muzak notwithstanding.

My first pub crawl for about two months must be a record for me in the last few years.

I managed to do 23 new pubs,13 in Ilkley,3 in Silsden,4 in Addingham and 3 in Leeds city centre,this brings my new pubs done for the year up to 436

A big push before the new year and i may crack the 500 barrier.

I had a good crawl round Shipley Saltaire and probably 1 in Bialdon,i managed to do 23 new pubs bringing my new pubs done for the year up to 459

I car'nt see me now making the 500 mark,off to Lincoln next Saturday no chance of any new pubs there, so only one more pub crawl over the Christmas shut down period.
