View Full Version : A-Z challenge

I was looking for next year's challenge and I initially thought an A-Z of pub names would be a good one. However having just checked my 2014 spreadsheet of hits, it turns out I have done all letters except X and Z.

So my question is - can anyone tell me any pubs (not keg bars) that begin with those letters? I have a couple of days off in a fortnight and might well do a special train trip out to achieve it...

Any suggestions?

There are a few zetlands... good luck with the x though.

I, too, have some days to use, but pubs (read 'bars') starting with X or Z are unlikely to be (won't be) on my mission list...

If you could find an open real ale Zebra it would be some achievement. I've been to a few pubs that could justifiably have been renamed the Xenophobe but I think they all closed down instead.

Places starting with X are almost certain to be rubbish. There's a cocktail bar in Islington called Xoxo (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/54226/) if that helps?

As for Z, your best bet has to be one of the Zerodegrees outlets or a Zetland Arms.

Ahhh of course - there's a ZD in Blackheath, the one I haven't done. Add in Xoxo on the same Travelcard and I'm home and dry in one trip! Good stuff :D

Thanks to all for the suggestions!

I take it all back - this one sounds okay - Xanders Traditional Bar (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/73877/). Could combine with Zachariah Pearson (JD Wetherspoon) (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/56319/) if you'd rather have a day out in Hull.

This one also does real ale - Xtra (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/21252/)

I too am in the same predicament of new pubs in the same X & Z. Nothing close or in the pot for me to achieve it though. I think most people may also be in a close predicament too though each year.

Does the ZD in Reading not count?
