Boak & Bailey's Beer Blog - Writing about beer and pubs since 2007 (http://boakandbailey.com)
There’s been more evidence this week that the march into the mainstream of*‘craft beer’, whatever the hell it is (http://boakandbailey.com/guides-lists/when-we-say-craft-beer-we-mean/), continues apace.Having tested the market in the last few months with bottles of BrewDog Punk IPA, Goose Island IPA, Brooklyn Lager and canned beer from Sixpoint, the Wetherspoon chain of pubs has made some interesting announcements in the last couple of days:

From #1oct (https://twitter.com/hashtag/1oct?src=hash) we will have Lagunitas IPA in bottle in all of our pubs. #craftcapsandtaps (https://twitter.com/hashtag/craftcapsandtaps?src=hash) @lagunitasbeer (https://twitter.com/lagunitasbeer) pic.twitter.com/yfPL1hVXbZ (http://t.co/yfPL1hVXbZ)

From #1oct (https://twitter.com/hashtag/1oct?src=hash) we will have #thisislager (https://twitter.com/hashtag/thisislager?src=hash) on draught in 200 of our pubs initially, with full availability in all pubs by January…

(This.Is.Lager is the absurdly-named new beer from BrewDog.)

Devils Backbone American IPA will be available in all of our pubs from the 1oct. #beerisculture (https://twitter.com/hashtag/beerisculture?src=hash) #craftcapsandtaps (https://twitter.com/hashtag/craftcapsandtaps?src=hash)

And we’re sure we saw someone say on Twitter that selected Spoons outlets would also be getting BrewDog Punk IPA in kegs, too.
Then there’s this:

Bog-standard pubco pub by my local shopping centre now advertising "craft ales" – i.e. Brooklyn Lager, Punk IPA and Innis & Gunn

Finally, we note with interest that*Butcombe, brewers of the brownest of brown bitters since 1978, are launching a (one-off) saison (http://butcombe.com/wp/index.php/big-news-at-the-yard-three-great-events-and-new-limited-edition-brews/). It’s seems amazing to think that, in 2007, we’d never tried a single example of this somewhat challenging, mysterious Belgian style of beer.
