Not a bad week including a great day out in the frozen North but with numbers down due to rather too many duplicates:-

Timothy Taylor Dark Mild 3.5%
Timothy Taylor Golden Best 3.5%
Timothy Taylor Boltmaker 4.0%
Everard's Tiger 4.2%
Timothy Taylor Landlord 4.3%
Timothy Taylor Ram Tam 4.3%
Thornbridge Hopton 4.3%
Brewster's Decadence 4.4%
Portobello Market Porter 4.6%
Oakham Bishop's Farewell 4.6%
Saltaire Hop #256 5.0%
Grafton Lady Mary 5.0%
Caledonian Barley Brown's Black IPA 5.2%
Saltaire New World Red 5.2%
Summer Wine Diablo 6.0%

Last week's BOTW was good again as were the two Saltaire brews and the Taylor's Dark Mild and Ram Tam but the winner has to be the Saltaire Hop #256 as tried in the Puzzle Hall at Sowerby Bridge for £2.90. I've discovered from their web site that #256 is the name of an American hop used in this IPA / APA.

London and Essex

Hardknott-Katalyst 3.8%abv: I approached this with due trepidation, but found, despite the Brewer's contarianism,a reasonably hoppy, modern style pale ale.
Mighty Oak-Oscar Wilde MILD 3.7%abv: a lovely jet black MILD:chocolatey with a touch of liquorice.
Mighty Oak IPA 3.5%abv:nutty and hoppy session bitter.
Vale-Pure Gold 3.9%abv :me-too golden ale.Thin with some hedgerow fruit.
Truman's -Swift 3.9% Rather nondescript golden/amber ale from the revived Truman's Brewery.
London Fields-Broadway Belle 5%abv:a 'Californian Pale'.Tropical fruit.
My BOTW: a close run thing between the Katalyst and Oscar Wilde. After due reflection it goes to Mighty Oak-Oscar Wilde MILD.

Decent week for me, all bar one tried on my usual Sunday afternoon crawl (Hop, Harry's, Bull & Fairhouse, FernandesTap).

Cottage - Sunset.
Fernandes - Malt Shovel MILD.*
Fernandes - Octohop.*
Mallinsons - Mount Pleasant MILD.*
White Rose - Summer Hoppiness.
Oxfordshire - Sunseeker.
Fernandes - Bullet IPA.*
Revolutions - Pretty in Pink.
Great Heck - Dave.
Kelham - Easy Rider.*
Rat - White Rat.
Liverpool Organic - Cascade.
Abbeydale - Abbey Ale.*
Tring - Kiwi.
Slaters - TopTotty.
Five Towns - Old Norrell.
Fuzzy Duck - Mucky Duck.*
Elland - Ginger Pale Ale.

BOTW is an old favourite and previous winner. As the name suggests, Octohop is a golden ale made with eight different hop varieties. Incredible flavour for a 4% beer.

Happened to find a beer festival on in Gent last Saturday; so, without being too specific, it was almost certainly something I had there.

NB - This is the first beer festival I've been to where something like the 'Rooie Dop 24/7 Session Ale' at 4.9% was in the "Low Alcohol" category!
