I don't know the area well but have been here (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/8283/) and highly recommend it. The Spoons cider festival will also still be on so it could get shambolic!

I have been to Newton Abbot on a pub crawl with my wife,plenty of pubs there we enjoyed it,i car'nt comment on the quality of pubs it was quite a few years back and we done care what pubs we go in.

We did go to Paignton had a drink in the Well House near the station,walked up to the sea front and saw loads of crap looking seaside pubs,we decided to leave the town and go somewhere better.

Never been to Torquay yet.
