There's been a lot of work going on behind the scenes on this link

http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pub-features/camra-discount/

Which is also available in the "Links to stuff that I need to put on the site" thread.

At the time of posting there are 1181 pubs on the list.

This will rise to at least 1500 as we pursue a number of leads from CAMRA branch newsletters, pub chains etc.

Most entries now have a discount amount in the details field e.g. 20p per pint, 10p per half.

If we haven't been able to find out what the discount amount is, that fact is also noted.

If you do know what the discount is, please let us know via this thread.

Only Wetherspoons that offer a discount over and above the JDW vouchers are on this list.

We all know that all Wetherspoons take their own vouchers so it's not needed.

Have another look at the link, especially if you're visiting a town that is new to you. It may well save you money.

Please be aware that these discounts can be changed or stopped at any time at the discretion of the pub
and whilst we will endeavour to keep this list up to date, we cannot be held responsible for any changes, omissions or errors.

Thanks for all your work on this! You've helped make this a really useful list.

To try and help promote it a bit more I've now added a link directly to it from all pages of the site (at the top of the page under 'other bits')

The discount here (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/60992/) was 10% when I reviewed it in December 2012, and still the same when I was there again a year later. I understand that the local Camra branch doesn't state what it is, but my guess would be it's still 10%!

As I was only going to two new pubs I just checked for discount shown in the details for the specific pub. I added the 10% after my visit. I haven't changed the All Inn One as it seems too far fetched that they would discount a £3.80 pint to £3.00. Considering I'm such a skinflint I don't make a very good job of checking for discounts.

Would it be possible to amend the discount comment for the Moon Under Water in Wolverhampton please? On my machine this long comment sends the pub details all over the place. I can confirm that there is no card discount as I asked last weekend.

Strange, it displays fine on mine. The reason for the description was that Whatpub still stated that there was a discount at the time.

Whatpub has now been corrected, so I'll change the description to the usual "JDW vouchers only" comment.

West Norwood's Great North Wood (ex Norwood Hotel) offers 15% discount which, at £4 per pint, is a handy 60p off.
Shame I didn't realise until a coupla weeks ago; they didn't want to rebate me on the 20 or so pints I'd had before I saw the notice...

Taylor-Walker pubs can be challenging. A Camra card doesn't mean much when your third language is English and usually requires reference to someone managerial to demonstrate the correct key sequence on the till. Stopped for a quick on in here (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/22861/) the other night: the lone barman eventually gave up on the till and set off to seek advice. I reckon he went to the Victoria (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/23057/) on the next corner and back. I'm not sure that the major Pub Annoyance (http://forums.pubsgalore.co.uk/showthread.php?949-Pub-annoyances-834) I inflicted on half-dozen or so waiting for it all be sorted out was worth the 40p or so I saved.

This (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/32643/) is marked as doing 10p CAMRA Discount but none of the last three GBGs mention it nor does What Pub. I was there yesterday but didn't think to even look for CAMRA discount as Spoons don't generally do it apart from some with food. Is the information out of date?

The discount was from the Heart of Staffordshire CAMRA website here http://heartofstaffordshirecamra.org.uk/camra/pub-discounts/

It's still listed there. A lot of the local CAMRA discounts for the area aren't on Whatpub either.

I picked up the June / July Nottingham Drinker on Saturday. It has a list of all the Nottingham discounts and the three city centre Spoons are not mentioned. I visited the Lloyds and managed to ask one of the floor staff if they did CAMRA discount and I think the answer he gave was that it is just the vouchers.
When I have time I will add any new discounts but am reluctant to change ones that others have submitted so will post them here.

I checked all the Nottingham ones late last year, probably using the November/December issue,
but there are bound to have been some changes as well as the JDWs.

So please feel free to go ahead. Nottingham Drinker usually has all the Erewash Valley ones as well on a different page.

I've been through the list and added seven. What I can't do easily so won't is cross reference the existing discounts against the ND list.
What I can say for certain is that there are no Spoons listed as doing a discount. I'm going to Liverpool on Saturday and suspect that the same applies there. I'll try and remember to find out what I can!

It certainly will, but it's not as easy as removing all the Nicholsons pubs.

Each pub has always had some autonomy as to whether they offer a discount or not and I believe some still are doing.

The new scheme is https://www.nicholsonspubs.co.uk/offers/thehopcircle and is available to all.

I'm guessing that over time that most of their pubs will join it.

I first came across it in The Victoria Comet (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/70008/) in October.

I showed my CAMRA card for the usual discount and was told that they weren't giving it anymore in their pub.

As neither of us had a smartphone the barmaid applied for the discount on her own phone and then put the discount code into the till.

Top barmaid! :notworthy:

You can bet there's even less usable normal height seating. They did up a pub near me and now even most of the banquette seating is raised up. You have to be in early to nab a normal table. I wonder if they realise that they are excluding a section of the population who can't surmount without assisstance, or for balance or other reasons feel unsafe on, their stupid high furniture.

This Conference believes that no CAMRA member or Branch should ask for, or expect, a permanent discount from any pub or brewery, but if a business wants to offer CAMRA members a discount, this be respected but not expected.

One of those where you would have to have heard the discussion to understand the sentiment behind the resolution. I wasn't, but my guess is that it's for the benefit of those who have an unpleasantly overt sense of entitlement when it comes such things, or perhaps for rogue branches suggesting to pubs that a discount would smooth the way to a GBG entry.

But that's just me guessing, would anyone who was present in the hall on the day care to elucidate?

Now that CAMRA are starting to show pubs which accept the extended voucher scheme, as well as those which give a direct discount, have we given any thought as to how (if?) we mark them on PuG? Marking the CAMRA discount field as Yes and adding a comment is slightly clumsy but sort of works.

I wonder if some that give discounts will go for vouchers instead in the future. Any reports yet of pubs giving a discount AND taking a voucher?

Some JDW's have always given a CAMRA discount as well as taking the vouchers, although not for the same drink at the same time.

A decision was made that JDW's that just do the vouchers would be shown as not giving a discount.

I believe that any beer discounts other than the vouchers were removed when they had their minimum wage price increases some years ago now. I would look on any CAMRA discounts with JDW other than the vouchers suspiciously especially given the vociferous campaign against the vouchers on the boring CAMRA discourse site.

It was the non-JDW that I was thinking of. With Stonegate included it is going to be clear as mud which pubs are involved. I wonder if Yates & Slugs will be included?

I found the answer to my second query on the CAMRA website though:

CAMRA members enjoy discounts at over 4,700 pubs* nationwide via the RADS scheme, which encompasses:
Real Ale Discount Scheme Membership Card discounts (around 3,500 pubs)
CAMRA real ale, cider and perry paper vouchers (over 1470 pubs)
*some pubs may offer both discounts

I can think of two Castle Rock ones that do both. The Alex in Derby and the VAT & Fiddle in Nottingham. There's probably others. I think adding a Voucher Yes/No option for this site would be over the top.

Good spot. Discount of 10% every day until 17.00 with a CAMRA card as I understand it. It's reasonably priced anyway and invariably has a decent and well kept selection.

Generous Briton in Loughborough, also very good, is listed, but is not 'currently' offering discount...

WhatPub still says that it does, but I'll remove it and namecheck yourself.
