I see Real Ale Ray has been out and about in sunny but ultimately depressing Birkenhead where he chanced upon a couple of oddly named pubs:

Cock & Pullet (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/81651/) and then the Swinging Arm (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/53835/)

an odd juxta-position of names

In the days of my youth,I used to drink in here under it's original name of The Organ Inn (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/35682/),which was always worth a guffaw. In addition a trip to Saltaire isn't complete unless you pop in here (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/55868/).

Not so much Frankie Howard, but I always chuckle when I pass here. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Eastbourne/@50.768922,0.292577,3a,75y,322.53h,81.89t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1swkRj9Xxb0MdZ8RsTCRNxuQ!2e0!4m2 !3m1!1s0x47df70ac77af480d:0xf767a9a392d8f605

Frankie Howerd was the first person I thought of when I reviewed The Polished Knob (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/56015/), Todmorden.

The name seems to have taken a less controversial route.

A few years ago I was planning a Derbyshire/Peak District pub crawl and wanted to include the Cock & Pullet (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/71135/) at Sheldon, near Bakewell. So I googled the pub's name to see if I could find out opening times or a telephone number. One of the first hits was a list of pub names that were along the lines of the gay innuendo in this thread, most of them went completely over my head. I tried to find it again just now, but it must have been taken down.:(

OOOER MISSUS !
The Cock in Treacle, Macclesfield SK10 1AQ. Obviously something to do with a new way of cooking your bird !
This is another pub taken over by the Atwill Pubs, formerly the Town House. They also have the Cocked Hat in Stockport, and the aforementioned Cock and Pullet Birkenhead. I might have to try the Cock in Treacle next. OOOW I SAY !

You can then try Atwill Pubs house beer (from Titanic) called "Cock and Sup-it".
