Hi Admins,

I think this pub Woodthorpe Inn (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/78474/) used to be called the Prince of Wales it ties in with the Queens Head which i did just before it,both pubs were done on the 24th of May 1988.

I will leave it up to the experts to see if i am right on this one.

Cheers Alan

There's a record of a parish council meeting (http://www.claycross.gov.uk/docs/CXPC%20MINS%2028.7.09.pdf) in 2009 that refers to this pub as the Prince of Wales. The plan at the time was to convert it into a residential nursing home. At the time of my photo it was a restaurant called Princes. As that is only one step from Prince of Wales, I have changed the name of the pub as requested.

Looking a bit further into this, I see that I added the Woodthorpe Inn to both this site and the Closed Pubs (http://www.closedpubs.co.uk/derbyshire/claycross_woodthorpe.html) site, but I now can't find the original references that gave me this pub's name at this address. There is a Woodthorpe Inn (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/6995/) a few miles away at Old Tupton, but the only references I can now find to a pub at 8 Thanet Street are the Prince of Wales.

Thanks for the information.
