A PUB has been banned from selling alcohol after a huge fight broke out at the end of an 18th birthday party.

Around 40 people were involved in the brawl outside the Compass Rose pub in Anchorage Park that left one man needing surgery on his hand.

Councillors will hold a full review of the licence on May 7

Have to say I have always found it fine, but my visits are in daylight, and like many pubs & vampires, the dusk changes everything

Indeed it does. Despite the guvnor's pleadings I doubt it was the first time: he would have got a rollocking off the cops and that would have been that. But then again, 18th birthday party? There is a selection of ways of losing your personal licence, and thus livelihood, possible if you allow such events.

round here it tends to be the venues that are struggling for money that take 18th parties the rest wont touch them

Same here, what seems a good money spinner rapidly turns into monster, drives away your regulars, the old blokes who came in for chat, or meal with missus, family with kids just walk away and Yoofs go to another cooler place so that bright idea has killed all your trade

But like the stock market or housing bubbles, everyone says "It is different this time"
