Although often written as the "Flowerpot", the pub signage (and Royal Mail postcode database) clearly show the name of this famous music and real ale pub as two words:

Having lived in Derby for 3 years and i always known it as "The Flowerpot" despite of pub signage shows in two words. Even this webiste http://www.rawpromo.co.uk/ says "The Flowerpot"

Over to you, Conrad....

I am aware that Rawpromo (who promote live music at the pub) use the 'one word' version, so thought this might promote some discussion!

Hi rpadam, Hoppy,

When in doubt go with signage, pub sign takes priority. So The Flower Pot (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/7080/) it is :).

Thanks for that.

Hi Conrad,

Sorry but if you search "The Flower pot, Derby" on Google and you will see majority of results will return as The Flowerpot.

Personally I think The Flowerpot is best since virually every Derby resident will call it as single word. I think the pub started off as "The Flower Pot" but after years it evolved into single word.

But as you say pub sign takes priority and I am fine with it.
