Just got this through our Contact Us form:

The Old White Bear in Hampstead has recently relaunched and would be greatly interested if you could post a press release on your site as well as a few photos. If possible, we would love for you to pay a visit and write a review.

I look forward to hearing from you
Regards
Jodie-Ann

This is Strongers territory. No doubt he'll drag himself out of the The Duke long enough to check this out. If it has re-opened as the excellent pub that it was, then that is very good news indeed.

Well if you read this Strongers I also have an email and phone number, you are welcome to contact and name drop, given the tone you may be able to wrangle some tasters.

I’ll be sure to pop in at some point. My old next door neighbour from the flats opposite the pub said that he was walking past last week and there seemed to some activity so he popped his head in. It turned out to be a family and friends night to test the facilities and iron out any creases, but he was invited in for a free beer and he said that everyone was very friendly, and he is a miserable git so this is saying something.

Unfortunately from his description it seems like it is verging on being a restaurant now, but I will reserve judgement and yes I will name drop. I was actually in the John Baird in Muswell Hill a few weeks ago and there was a sign in the toilet requesting reviews from customers and around seven websites were listed – I had my pen so there were eight listed when I left!:D

Got to be worth a try :D

Gone for it a bit haven't they. To be honest I wish more pubs would, as long as they are as obvious as that one is, why not get a bit of free promotion.

I was up that way this afternoon so dropped in for a look see. They are turning it into a restaurant, with a mediterranean flavour. Two handpumps though, no clips, though one did have a cask of London Pride attached to it. Even though they don't formally open until this evening, they did sell me a half (at £1.75!). I did ask whether I could take a few photos of the inside to post on Pubs Galore, but in the didn't do so as they still hadn't finished putting it all together (bit of last minute-ism there then!), and it didn't seem fair to photo the unfinished product.

Nice one Rex, they will at least feel like it was worth contacting us.

Thanks a lot.

I've just read Alex Silver's promotional puff. I burst out laughing when I saw 'venison ravioli, with pecorino and thyme' described as back to basics fare! Only in bloody London. :D
