I'll go along with this as I don't really do anything of the year so this is just stuff that has impressed me over the last year.
They are not in any order of preference.

Beer

Unsurprisingly lots of Brodie's beers.
Dark Star Green Hopped AND Red Shift.
Windsor & Eton Conqueror and Irish Conqueror Black IPA
Triple fff Jabberwocky Black IPA

There's probably lots more but I find it easier to remember breweries that have impressed so here goes:-

Breweries

Brodie's (Obviously)
Dark Star
East London Brewery
Redemption
London Fields
Portobello
Clarence & Fredericks (later in the year)
Triple fff
Long Man
Tap East
Five Points
Siren
Hopcraft
Adnam's
Howling Hops

Pubs

The Cock Tavern Hackney
The Harp WC2 (Early Morning)
The Lord Nelson Brighton
The Bell E17 (When there's a good selection on)
The Door Hinge Welling

Now to annoy people :-

Spoons of the year :-

The George in Wanstead E11
The Cap in Hand at Hook / Surbiton
The Crown and Sceptre SW2
The King's Ford E4 (cheap and reliable, some beers are still £1.99)

The first three are original pubs rather than shop conversions. only the last two are GBG listed.

I stopped posting on the BOTW threads half way through the year, so I'm relying on my memory for BOTY. The ones that left an impression include:

London Brewers Alliance Collaboration London Stout
Great Heck American Classic
Three Tuns Stout
Fullers London Porter
Hobson's Mild
Saltaire Triple Chocoholic (which was also my BOTY last year)
Kirkstall Dissolution IPA

A tough call, but I think the Three Tuns Stout just about shades it - not very fashionable perhaps, but I thought this was an amazing beer.

As for pubs, my top three would be:

The Bridge End (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/61960/) - Ruabon
Shakespeares (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/43362/) - Sheffield
York Tap (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/75525/) - York

Honourable mentions to
The Swan & Rushes (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/20714/) - Leicester,
The Admiral Benbow (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/57889/) - Shrewsbury,
The Railway Inn (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/46158/) - Killay,
The Old Bridge Inn (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/42846/) - Kirkstall,
Fox & Newt (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/42711/) - Leeds and
The Nags Head (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/1691/) - Reading.

Best place for a crawl this year was Leeds, thanks to five days spent there including the excellent PuG crawl. I visited 43 pubs (including a few in nearby Otley) and there was only one that I didn't like. I also really enjoyed York, Shrewsbury, Leicester and surprisingly, Wigan.

In terms of new pubs only - the following got a 9/10 from me:

The Rose & Crown (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/31793/) Oxford
The Rose & Crown (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/52718/) Sandhurst
The Fox Inn (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/59558/) North Waltham
The South Western Arms (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/13883/) Southampton
The Brewery Tap (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/31347/) Abingdon

These two got top marks!

Talbot Inn (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/37046/) Leamington Spa
The Guide Dog (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/59830/) Southampton

It's been a good year. :bemerry:

Finally got around to trawling through my BOTWs.

BEERS OF THE YEAR.

Kirkstall - Three Swords.
Titanic - Plum Porter.
Oakham - Citra.
Fernandes - West Coast IPA.
Acorn - Tarn Life.
Brass Castle - Sunshine.
Rat - Rat Attack.
Oakham - Green Devil IPA.
Ilkley - Lotus IPA.
Okells - Manx Pale Ale.
Roosters - Fort Smith.

The Green Devil was a huge beer, an incredible assault on the senses and utterly delicious. My outright winner.

PUBS OF THE YEAR.

York Tap. Needs no explanation.
Harry's Bar, Wakefield. Currently my favourite alehouse on the local scene.
The Tabard W4. My home from home, when staying with family in west London.
Red Lion, Litton, Derbyshire. Quintessential village pub.
Old Cock, Otley. Fantastic market town alehouse. My POTY.
Brewers Pride, Ossett. Fantastic alehouse hidden away about a mile from the town centre, with a pump devoted to Oakham beers.

BREWERIES OF THE YEAR.

Like BF, these are my 'go to' breweries. If any of these are on the pumps, I know I'm going to find something decent. By the fact I nominated an Oakham beer 7 times for BOTW, it has to be my brewery of the year.

Roosters.
Kirkstall.
Titanic.
Oakham.
Rat.
Acorn.
Five Towns.
