The shortest day:
One pub visit, one beer:
Rother Valley-Copper ale 4.1%abv. Caramelised malts, long bitter hop finish. Damn good beer, my BOTW.At the ever reliable and generally excellent The Bell & Jorrocks (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/15787/) The Bell and Jorrocks.

A small selection this week as there were a few tried more than once:-

RCH Steam Sleigh 3.9%
Loddon Hocus Pocus Old Ale 4.4%
Ringwood Porter 4.7%
Robinson's Trooper 4.8%
Bath Festivity 5.0%
Bingham's Aurora Very Pale Ale 5.0%
Brodie's Old Street Pale 5.0%
Celt Experience Divine Yule Saison 5.3%
Everard / Devil's Backbone IPA 5.9%

The Bingham's and Brodie's were good and I thought the Ringwood Porter was much the same as I remembered it, but the winner is Everard / Devil's Backbone IPA which I caught a fresh cask of in the E4 King's Ford. It's one of the best of the series of American beers that Spoons have been doing being pale with a strong New World hop aroma and taste. The only one that betters it for me is the Stone Black IPA that Adnam's did for the October Fest.

BOTW Everard / Devil's Backbone IPA

Red Willow Headless came very close but the winner is Thornbridge Bracia and at £10 a pint it bloody well should be.

Kelham Island Fairytale Of New York.

I have a sneaking feeling I nominated this beer at around the same time last year.

It's excellent, tastes a bit like a porter and a bit like a winter warmer, but it's only 4.2%.

Passed the 3 pint test at a canter in The Baum last Tuesday.

A quiet week with just Oakham Bishops Farewell, Hop Back Winter Lightening and BOTW ABBEYDALE SNOW JOB.
A bit disappointed by the Winter Lightening given how good it's summer counterpart is but the Snow Job was very good. A pale, easy drinking 4.8% ale which zipped through the 3 pint test.

Bit late on parade this week. Nothing particularly outstanding on the beer front.

Clarks - Classic Blonde.
Brown Cow - Sessions.
Elland - Beyond the Pale.
Strathaven - Trumpeter.
Ilkley - Holy Cow.

BOTW is the Trumpeter, a stout with a hint of ginger.
