Decent week:

Blue Monkey US Ape
Orkney Dark Island
Downton Endeavour
Titanic Pier 54
Oakham Bishops Farewell
Nobby's Plum Porter
Marble Manchester Bitter

All very good but it's between the Pier 54 and the Endeavour, a delicious 10% double IPA. BOTW Titanic Pier 54 - red, brewed with American hops and at 5.4% hugely drinkable due to its malty start and bitter finish. Fantastic.

Mobyduck

Roosters - Wild Mule
Darkstar - Six Grain
Darkstar - American Pale Ale
Three Tuns - Rich Ruby

Not many to choose from this week and as good as the Darkstar beers were the Roosters - Wild Mule was fantastic, described on ratebeer as an American Pale Ale but actually using New Zealand Nelson Sauvin Hops (New World Pale Ale ?), Was my BOTW and passed the three pint test with ease at only 3.9 %, barely touching the sides.

All but the first sampled in Leeds and not a bad beer among them.

Mc Mullens -- Country Bitter
Great Heck -- Citra
Ridgeside -- Rushmore
Leeds -- Gathering Storm
Ilkley -- Lotus IPA
Kirkstall -- Pale
Wharfbank -- Aztec Orange
Kelburn -- Dark Moor
Beavertown -- Benzara
Beavertown -- Smog Rocket
Kirkstall -- Three Swords
Roosters -- Yankee
Magic Rock -- Rapture

BOTW goes to Ilkley Lotus IPA from The Botanist,in the running for beer of the year.

Next week ,a night in Cov then down the Falcon ,Clapham Junction end of the week,so there should be a few BOTW contenders.

An unusual week for me with several beers from a local beer festival.

Abbeydale Moonshine 4.3%
Coach House Christmas Cracker 4.3%
Caledonian / Stone Session IPA 4.4%
Brew Company Yellow Rose 4.5%
Burton Bridge Knot Brown Ale 4.8%
Brentwood Weald Porter 4.9%
Abbeydale Horrible Skellington 4.9%

It boils down to a choice between the Brentwood Weald Porter and the Hopcraft Ta Moko Black IPA. The winner is the Ta Moko Black IPA at £2.60 in the Leyton King William IV. Their sister company's Pixie Spring Tidy Bitter was an outstanding boring brown bitter.

As expected, most of this week's consumption was in Leeds, on Friday. A great day's drinking threw up some fantastic beers, with barely a duff one all day.

Fernandes - Great Northern.
Great Heck - Citra.
Leeds - Gathering Storm.
Great Newsome - Frothingham Best.
Collingham - Winter Warmer.
Cumbrian - Loweswater Gold.
Ilkley - Lotus IPA.
Acorn - Agnus IPA.
Acorn - Gorlovka.
Anarchy Brew Co. - Grim and Bare It.

Some very strong contenders in there, but the Lotus IPA was the pick of the bunch.

Obviously in the William IV! It's the second of theirs I've tried and this was better than the first but nothing special compared to Brodie's or Hopcraft. I know nothing about the brewer, I wasn't even aware that they were London based.
The best time to visit the William is at the weekend as the beer range can be poor mid-week, but they always seem to have loads of the overpriced keg stuff on.
I'm glad you vindicated my opinion of W&E Conqueror. I can't get enough of these black IPA beers.

I'm going with the flow this week by choosing Ilkley Lotus IPA.

It was a good decision to do an off piste swerve to The Botanist (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/79599/) last Friday.

A high class establishment with some high class views available. ;)

Apart from us of course who dragged the level downwards somewhat.

I also notice that BF has nicked my Jack Whitehall comment for his review. :moremad:

Wow! Well you're in town enough LC, it's a short bus or a 0.8m walk down from Walthamstow; you sure that 2hrs didn't include a few jokers en route..?

due to work on the underground this was my route.
12mins walk to Kew bridge 5 mins wait for the bus to Gunnersbury 10 min journey then 5 mins wait for the train to Hackney central.50 minute journey then 5 minutes walk to catch a bus outside the Pembury 10 minute wait for bus then 15 mins on bus and a 3/4 minute walk from the bus stop. All times approx. And you know what I specifically went there for an ipa fest and I didn't think much of the 3 I tried. The Hopcraft beer I got was good though.cheers john

Yes, I think they try to put too many on during their periodic festivals; I've noticed the beers often don't seem ready, or cared-for. I'd swerve fests there for the time being, tbh.
What a mare of a journey!!
