A mystery test brew on Slaithwaite Moonraker Beer Festival's beer list has piqued my curiosity.
The Bloke from Hull sent me an email last week containing a flyer and tasting notes for the festival, which starts on Thursday.
I was a bit snowed under at the time and didn't really register his "Note No 29!" clue despite it being in bold red.
Well, I revisited the email today and it said: "29. Test Brew 1, Bridge, Holmfirth, 4.0%. A lightly hopped refreshing ale, First brew for this new brewery."
I've been unable to find anything out about Bridge Brewery, of Holmfirth, online. I can only speculate that it might somehow be connected to the The Bridge in nearby Holmbridge, which is due to open in late November, according to twitter.
That's the sister pub to Brambles in Holmfirth, run by Jonny Holmes. He has Slaithwaite connections, having run The Commercial and The Swan at Crimble. So what better place to debut a new beer?
Unfounded guesswork or Holmesian deduction? We will have to wait and see. I do like a good mystery...
Slaithwaite Moonraker Beer Festival, at the Conservative Club on Britannia Road, runs from Thursday, November 14 to Saturday, November 16.
