For once, here’s a story of pub advance rather than pub retreat. The two pictures to the right show the Flying Horse (http://www.pub-explorer.com/lancs/pub/flyinghorsehealdgreen.htm), an impressively large, brand new pub close to Manchester Airport which is due to open next Monday. The specific location is here (https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Heald+Green&hl=en&ll=53.368566,-2.241431&spn=0.002263,0.005681&sll=52.8382,-2.327815&sspn=9.389305,23.269043&oq=heald+green&t=h&hnear=Heald+Green,+United+Kingdom&z=18). Many people would think of this as Heald Green, but in fact it’s just over the border into Manchester.
However, leaps of joy may be cut short for some on learning that it’s the latest branch of Greene King’s Hungry Horse chain.
