An average week transformed by a Saturday afternoon spent in the Nags Head (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/1691/),
Wild Weather Ales - Sundowner 3.4%
Wild Weather Ales - Little Wind 4.2%
Wild Weather Ales - Stormbringer 4.5%
Darkstar - Greenhopped IPA 6.5%
Tillingbourne - The Source 3.3%
Gadd's - Rye Pale Ale 4.0%
Great Newsome - Pricky Back Otchan 4.2%
Hopcraft - New Dawn Fades 4.8%
Hopcraft - Mosaic Plus 5.0%
Hopcraft -Napoleon Complex 3.9%
Pixie Spring - Prince Of Bengal IPA 5.5%
Siren Craft - Ryezing Tide IPA 7.4 %
XT - Eight 4.5%

A very tough decision this week, Greenhopped was as good as ever but after being top for the last three weeks Iv'e disqualified it,all the beers drunk in the Nags were better than good but it comes down to a shoot out between the ,
Hopcraft - Mosaic Plus and the Siren Craft - Ryezing Tide IPA, cant really split them but there has to be a winner so the BOTW goes to -
Siren Craft - Ryezing Tide IPA.

Modest week but some decent ale.

Marston's brewed -- Bass
Jennings -- Cocker Hoop
Hart Family brewers -- 1833 IPA
Tunnel -- Tradewinds IPA
York -- Guzzler
St Austell -- Tribute
Vale -- Best Bitter

The clear winner of BOTW was Hart Family Brewers 1833 IPA bottled conditioned and consumed on the long lockfree pound between Fradley and Fazeley.Lots of initial malts giving way to deep hoppiness with a 6.6% poke.Very fine IPA indeed.

Next week, more anesthetic in The George required before the first Saturday 3pm kick off this season.

The last of the Spoons festival this week with three new ones tried bringing my total to 40 of the 50.

Brodie's Mild 3.6%
Caledonian Poltergeist Porter 4.0%
Cotleigh Lemon Ale 4.3%
Castle Rock Preservation Bitter 4.3%
Rooster's All Star 4.3%
Brewster's Aromatic Porter 4.5%
Titanic Cappuccino 4.5%
Okell's Jiarg 4.7%
Caledonian Ninkasi Cream Ale 4.5%
Greene King Abbot Ale 5.0%
Adnams Stone Supremely Self-Conscious Black IPA 5.0%
Brodie's Old Street Pale 5.0%
Hook Norton Flagship 5.3%
London Fields Shoreditch Triangle 6.0%

The winner is London Fields Shoreditch Triangle for £2.30 at the Drum in E10 which rescued what was looking like a disappointing afternoon.

A decent week helped by a swift trip daarn saarf.

Hart Green Hop
Dow Bridge Praettorian Porter
Bath Ales Prophecy
Skew Sunshine Ale
Stonehenge Great Bustard
Hogs Back TEA
Fullers Red Fox
Vibrant Forest Metropolis
Oakham Bishops Farewell

A difficult choice as they were all decent beers with Vibrant Forest, a small New Forest brewery, being new to me and the Metropolis a very good black IPA worth a mention along with the Bath Prophecy being much better than I'd expected.
BOTW was Fullers Red Fox which as an autumn seasonal fitted the mood perfectly and always seems to slide down all too easily.

Overall, another very average week, saved only by the winner(s).

Jennings - Cocker Hoop.
Rat - White Rat.
Shiny - Firefly.
Revolutions / Five Towns - Scary Monsters Black IPA.
Revolutions / Five Towns - Super Creeps IPA.
Loch Lomond - Ale of Leven.
Mordue - Workie Ticket.
Elgoods - Golden Newt.
Caledonian - Vienna Red.

A collaboration between two of my favourite local micros resulted in something a little different this week. The Scary Monsters and Super Creeps were two beers made from the same basic recipe, with the former darkened by black malt colour. As recommended by Malcolm Bastow I drank them side by side. I don't know if it was purely my imagination, but the SM seemed slightly more restrained and mellower. However, both were excellent.

Trips to Leamington Spa, Warwick, Gloucester & Shrewsbury last week gave quite a bit of choice.

But I'm going to give BOTW to Slaughterhouse Green Hopper tried at the brewery tap the excellent The Wild Boar (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/37375/) in Warwick.

BOTW at my POTM a double whammy!
