There's something faintly amusing about a pub called the Spotted Cow in a place called Cowplain.

I think it was deliberate by Gales way back, did much the same with The Heroes in Waterlooville, town re-named after battle of Waterloo troops stopped in area, Heroes name plays on same theme

There is a sign up in Honest Politician, on theme of good pub rare as Honest Politician [or hen's teeth come to that]

From my limited experience of said pub, seems to miss the point, but the pub is not really aimed at me, more for "yoof"
