This one was always thought to be haunted, and the story is that the fire which destoyed the original building a few years back was caused by the ghost who was annoyed at it being turned into a private house. Complete poppycock, of course.

I used to play darts here when it was a Courage pub and they said it was haunted by a man called Geoffrey.

I didn't believe a word of it. I never asked how they knew what the name of this ghost was. Maybe he introduced himself to them and offered them a drink.
