It will soon be the first week in July and that guarantees two things, the first is that we now go up to an allowance of 5 sunny warm days a month and second it is time for the Ramfest (http://www.facebook.com/ramfest2013)*Music Festival at Southowram Cricket Club again, for which I have provisionally booked one of those sunny days. *I’ve been involved with the organisation of Ramfest for the past 4 years since its inception in 2010, so regular readers will fully expect a bit of promotion in the piece the week preceding, if you want beer news and views, please skip to the second column (http://www.seanliquorish.co.uk/blog/?p=1329).
This years Ramfest on Sunday 7th July features 7 excellent bands. *Returning this year are crowd favourites The McCarrons and While the Cats Away, with ever present My Brother Jake taking an afternoon slot. *The drummer from Fogfield who performed last year returns with 2 bands, the openers Oblivion and the final act Tempus, while Ramfest virgins Fork Handles and RoxOff are welcomed into the fold. **Tickets are only £5 on the gate and any accompanied children are admitted free.
There will be an outside bar selling cider, bitter and lager for a bargain £2.50 a pint with a can bar in support. *The BBQ will be running all day with fresh burgers and hot dogs being sold throughout the festival and children can be entertained by our bouncy castle, face painting and mini Land Rover rides. *In addition to the bar and BBQ we will be selling pop, cakes and snacks all day as well. *Gates will open at 12.30 and the first bands take to the stage at 1pm. *There is also on site car parking on the day provided.
You can find Southowram Cricket Club on Ashday Lane, which is the left turn just before you take West Lane down to Siddal. *Please come and support us and help raise money for Help for Heroes and Motor Neurone Disease Association who will be present on the day to tell you more about their charities. *There will also be a raffle with 30 prizes including meal vouchers for several local restaurants and signed sports gear.
