Hopback- GFB
Hopback - Cropcircle
Hopback - Summer Lightning
Adnams - Ghost Ship
Gales - Spring Sprinter
Darkstar - Hophead
Darkstar - American Pale Ale

The Cropcircle was the finest Iv'e tasted in a while , very enjoyable, it's flavours are subtle and an all time favourite of mine, but it doesn't pack the flavour punch of the the Darkstar beers both of which were in excellent shape, both are winners but I will lean toward theAmerican Pale Ale as my BOTW.

In the end managed to get a few beers in ,and from a small sample BOTW was Hopback Spring Zing in good condition in The Ship,Holborn but it needed to be for £4 a pint :moremad:

Boating in Welford and Market Harborough this week but I am assuming that Leicester will throw up the BOTW.

See you all in The Pub

I do like the Ship, Holborn, but £4.00 is getting on the steep side, hope the beers a bit cheaper Friday.

Some good ones this week :-

East London Brewing Co Orchid Mild 3.6%
Salopian Oracle 4.0%
Adnam's Kristal White 4.2%
Adnam's (Spoons) Irish Red 4.5%
Dorset Yachtsman 4.7%
Titanic Captain Smith 5.2%
Siren Sound Wave IPA 5.6%
Brodie's Caramel Salt Brown 6.0%
Brodie's Mocha Milk Stout (keykeg) 9.0%

It's a choice between the ELB mild, the Salopian Oracle and the two new Brodie's beers being given an outing before the Easter Festival. I have to go for the Salopian Oracle as it was a real hop bomb at £2.09 in the King's Ford in Chingford.
I see from the tasting notes that this brew includes Cascade hops which has provoked some discussion recently. The fact that it included three other hops meant that it was a pale very easy drinking beer.

BOTW Salopian Oracle

Inveralmond Brewery - Duncan’s IPA

Virtually an Oakham full house this week:

Oakham Bishops Farewell
Oakham Random Rabbit
Oakham The Mercenary
North Cotswold Winter Solstice

All the Oakham beers were excellent and the Winter Solstice probably suffered in comparison. BOTW Oakham The Mercenary very hoppy and at 4.9% alarmingly dangerous.

A visit to Bristol Beer Festival gives me an opportunity to partake for once:

Abbey Ales Somerset Ale 3.8%
Box Steam Tunnel Vision 4.2%
Dawkins Resolution IPA 5.3%
Milk Street The Usual 4.4%
Severn Vale Luverly Jub'lee 4.2%
Twisted Oak Spun Gold 4.5%
Willy Good Ale Wheat a Second 5.0%
Oakham Citra 4.2%
Red Willow Endless 3.8%
Williams MArch of the Penguins 4.9%
Yeovil Glory 3.8%

A bit of a turn up here, the beer I enjoyed best and therefore my BOTW was Dawkins Resolution IPA. This was probably due to the fact that during the trade session only the locale bar was open and by the time I hit the main bar my goose was half cooked as they say.

A straight fight this week between Greenfield Black Five and Summer Wine Teleporter. The first was an unusual beer with a bit of liquorice in the background, whilst the latter was described as a 'ten malt porter'. Both were in great condition in the Ashton Arms, Oldham and Port Street Beer House, Manchester respectively.

Tough call, but I think I marginally preferred the Greenfield Black Five.

Being in Wisbech, we have had a lot of Elgoods this week and on our last day today we found Elgoods Lizard of Oz which was a great ale at 4.4% so nominate that one.

Oeestt Route 66 for me this week.

Typical Ossett beer and at 4.2% very drinkable. I had several in The Baum the other Tuesday.
