What isn't clear is why they've picked Stockholm and Sao Paulo.

Opening paragraph concludes with the baffling and contradictory words "open its first bars outside the UK this year as it cashes in on a growing interest in locally brewed ales".

Unless these are going to be brew-pubs, the beers could hardly be less 'locally-brewed'!

So the good folk of Leeds can now enjoy the pleasure of random measures, the requirement of asking for top-ups every second trip to the bar and uncomfortable seating. Welcome to the future.

I dare say I'll try it once, but I'm twice the age of their target customers and I don't like cold, fizzy, (sometimes) cloudy beer at £6 a pint. Do they use ridiculous 1960s handled glasses as well like most hipster bars?

I might have a "window" on the way back from the SIBA X tomorrow as it's usefully located between the railway station and the bus station but then so is the Duck & Drake (& of course the Brewery Tap and Friends of Ham).

I'm afraid their "offering" doesn't appeal-no real ale, no bottle conditioning, and an irritating chippiness. Give me Goacher's any day of the week.

We had never been in a Brewdog outlet, so the other week we went to the new one in Birmingham and were the only ones in as it was early. Had a chat with the friendly barman, were given a few samples including the brilliant Tokyo 18* which we would have had if it wasn't for the price (£4.75 a third)as it was a brilliant drink. Bought a couple of halves of their Punk IPA and 5am Saint at £4.25 a pint but doubt very much if we will be back.

Duck & Drake? Friends of Ham? I think there are quite a few who'd even consider The General Elliott before Brewdog! :D

:D:D:D at least it's a lot cheaper than Brewdog, £1.80 for a pint of OBB.

Latest Brewdog 'controversy'

http://www.brewdog.com/blog-article/sorrynotsorry

This (http://www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/Drinks-Brands-News/3.8-ABV-BrewDog-beer-falls-foul-of-the-Portman-Group) Morning Advertiser link describes the Portman argument while this (http://www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/Drinks-Brands-News/BrewDog-doesn-t-give-a-sh-t-about-Portman-Group-ruling) covers Brewdog's response, albeit with a disparity between Deuchars and Directors.

I tend to side with Brewdog on this, but if a complaint has been made by someone about their promotional material then I assume they have to take some sort of action. Will it have any effect? I neither know or care!

This thread has been quiet lately, their marketing must be slipping. Anyhow here's some bar opening news

The Leeds site is a bit out of the throbbing heart, between the Reliance and the Templar, but down a side street next to a dual-carriageway.

So it's rip-off beer and rip-off food. What could the surprises possibly be?
