I took a photo today of what is presently the Kathmandu Gurkha Restaurant at 183 High Street, on the southern edge of Clay Cross, not far from The George & Dragon (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/6867/). It looks like a former pub to me, but the only thing I can find out about it is that it used to be a restaurant called Clay Oven. See attached file for photo. Has anyone got any ideas of what it might have been?

Possibly one of these, Angel or Star?

After a bit of investigation I think that it was the Shoulder of Mutton. Some websites have it listed as a pub and others as an Indian restaurant.

The Shoulder of Mutton was a Tetley tied house with a very nice drink of Tetleys bitter on the bar.
I went in this pub on 24 May 1988 but was out with a gang of mates so left camera at home
