View Full Version : What were they called?
In pub this lunchtime a general discussion about "the old times" started up
One of the subjects was the hangover cure things that used to be behind every bar, on a sort of bandolier, I think they were in brown paper with a twisted top, made to sort of look like bullets, hence the bandolier style of display
So, wise ones, what was the name of them?
I know exactly what you mean - it will come to me in due course.

Why does Ferni Branca come into my mind?
Mine too! Even though I never used to get hangovers!

I only tried one once. ...result was projectile vomiting. I felt to ill to have a hangover.
I don't think I've ever had one but I could do with one now after a night on Fosters. My body ain't used to that stuff anymore. Hopefully something decent in Maidstone this afternoon to wash the taste away.

Not much choice is my excuse - was at a gig at the Red Lion in Gravesend - no ales and I didn't really fancy Guinness or any keg bitters so Fosters it was. Might be a similar story tomorrow at Dartford's Bull N Vic if they haven't fixed the hand pumps that some dopey barmaid broke last week.
