I've liked the Gas Lamp, and the Castle Hotel in Manchester this month and the New Oxford in Salford. More to come..

On the past few days' experience, it is a level contest between the Harp, Charing Cross, and The Merry Harriers,Hambledon, Surrey.

An early contender for July was The Top Lock (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/63667/),Wheelton near Chorley. The food wasn't much to write home about but the ale selection.........:nishelypished:

Mr Phat will provide the full ale line up when he gets round to doing his review,my memory has been wiped clean;)

Pub of the month goes to the Black Eagle, Hockley, Birmingham. This proper traditional pub has excellent ales, fabulous food, a very laidback atmosphere and good staff.

My pub of the month goes to The Commercial (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/53652/) in Chapletown, the pub is pretty much unaltered and there were 8 micro beers on the bar.

A second trip to Liverpool tipped the balance for POTM to The Dispensary. (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/58750/) The basic drinking atmosphere and authentic interior is supplemented by an excellent ale selection. It is clear that the aim is to showcase some really great brews,I have been impressed with the changing selection on all three trips during 2012 and if I lived locally,I would use the pub regularly.Terrific.

I agree with Mr Fastard on The Top Lock which has an excellent range of ales but it's just been pipped by The Jolly Sailors (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/65091/) for doing what it does so well.

My nomination for July is the Brewers Pride (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/40979/) in Ossett. Tucked away at the bottom of a long residential street, it really is out on a limb. However, it has a cosy traditional interior, nine hand pumps and cracking pub food. A line permanently dedicated to Oakham beers, is the icing on the cake.
