Now that is a sad one, I had my first pint of HSB in there when it was the Bay Tree and I was a callow youth of 19. The landlords name was Fred Gilante and he bred chuhuahuas.

Hi danbert,

We have marked the Graduate (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/13767/) as closed.

Thanks for that.

My mate tells me it was one of the few pubs where you could get real ale back in the early 70s. He was an early member of CAMRA and so drank there when it was the Bay Tree. I'll ask him if he remembers the chuhuahuas!

They weren't bred on the premises:D but Fred weighed about 25 stones and was quite a character, I went to the college opposite from 1976 to 1979 and drank there most lunchtimes. I was a member of South Hants CAMRA then along with a lot of railway guys, Nick Willey et al and Ian Drinkwater (I kid you not - great name for a dedicated CAMRA member)
