Never been to the Pembury Tavern, its been on a must do list for sometime, thinking about adding it to my upcoming East End jaunt. Is it worth the extra mileage up from the Bethnal Green Road about 2 miles I reckon , bearing in mind i'm thinking about taking in the Dove as recommended by Bucking Fastard. Anyone got any views,is it a good pub or is it just about the beers. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Yes, and only three stops on the train from Bethnal Green to the nearby Hackney Downs station (or two from Cambridge Heath).

The Pembury Tavern and the Dove are both good pubs and worth making a bit of effort to get to.

Never know who you might bump into in the Dove though - http://celebrity-gossip.net/katy-perry/katy-perry-late-night-dove-pub-655415

I would have thought the best thing to do is read the read the reviews and decide for yourself, after all, that is what we do them for! http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/25070/

Personally, I think the latter, especially if you like Milton ales. The space itself is not very 'pubby', really.
If you leave it 'til next month, though, they have another beer festival 18-22July...

Still not ticked the Dove, for reasons unknown, but, from there you could hop on a train as the guys said or walk to Mare Street for a bus, or the direct walk is 1.2m (~24mins for me, or 48mins if travelling the other way after a beer fest...)

Popped into The Pembury Tavern (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/25070/) today as part of a crawl along the North London Line ,AKA The Overground.Glad to report that it's still a decent pub for drinking in,even if the interior is a little drab.If you are still planning your crawl you may also want to consider The Duke of Wellington (http://www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/54289/)on Balls Pond Road,I was impressed by their interesting ale selection.

It's a good list, hope you all have a great time.If you are wandering up the Regents Canal towpath from the Palm Tree( or The Eleanor Arms) on Tuesday,I am on volunteer lock keeper duty at Old Ford Lock that day so may be around helping boats through or litter picking.Sadly no drinking on duty, but I will keep an eye open for a bunch of pub crawlers .;)
